We love books!

We've been on a roll with our homeschooling lately! By that I mean we are actually getting things accomplished in good timing, I'm enjoying myself and the kids are rarely complaining.

One of the things I love most about using curriculum from sonlight is the quality of books that allow us to dig deeper into the topics that interest us.
Whether we are cuddling around a classic as I read to them (we are reading Mr Poppers Penguins right now) or we are exploring the solar system and I am learning things I never knew... its just all so enriching. Listening to my children read to eachother warms my heart everytime and the stack of books we bring home from the library is taller every week :)

Math can be a struggle at times but I am still amazed that they will all sit together at the table and do their different levels in a style much like a one room school house where I am bouncing from spot to spot to help them where they are at. All the while Elizabeth is building things out of the math manipulatives sitting right next to them.

A highlight this week was when I was reading to Colin about the ancient Egyptians and we talked about their temples and how many gods they believed in. Garrett (5) was within earshot and decided to build a Temple out of lego and said "but this is for our God mommy because I don't want to have to keep track of lots of gods like the Egyptians did".

I love how we are always learning and that homeschooling isn't just one portion of our day. Its a way of life. <3
